Follow Your Heart… or Not…

FollowYourHeart

Follow Your Heart…

I’ve been seeing this all over the internet,
a LOT and especially lately.

But is it wise advice?

I have to be honest and say: No, it isn’t!

Why do I say that?

Because the Bible says (at Jere. 17:9)
“The heart is more treacherous than anything else and is desperate.”

If you follow your heart, you might go down the wrong path, make bad decisions and have to suffer the consequences of it.

The heart can mislead you because your emotions and desires come from your heart. It is the seat of
motivation… It motivates you to take action on what you desire!

Sometimes we desire the wrong things…
because we’re all imperfect, and lean toward wrong-doing.

However, perhaps what people REALLY MEAN is:

“Go with your GUT! … follow your instincts or your intuition!”

These are innate, they are built INTO us, to protect us from danger.

You know, that feeling you get that something’s not quite right… or you should “get out of there fast”, or you shouldn’t commit to it, or buy it, etc.

You get a definite feeling that something is wrong…
Something from INSIDE keeps bothering you about it.

This should not be confused with skepticism when checking out a business opportunity, for example. I hate skepticism! I like due diligence, logic, researching… with an open mind and due caution.

It’s good to always do your due diligence and research before deciding to commit to building a business… that’s a career choice that demands us to check it out – with an open mind – but at the same time – with open eyes!

So the next time you see the phrase or hear someone echo:

“Follow Your Heart”

Know that you really need to follow that little voice coming from deep within you, that is telling you to be careful…

’til next time…
