Favorite Movies – Why?
FAVORITE MOVIES – WHY?
Nothing stopped Walt Disney from making his dreams a reality. He even went bankrupt – I thought it was many times through his life, but I can’t substantiate that right now. It didn’t matter – Money was not the issue! He just pursued his dreams and made them come alive. Nothing could stand in his way. Look at all the movies and theme parks he created and brought to life! They had a special “sparkle” to them. No other movies or theme parks compare to them! A creative genius that has not been duplicated!
That’s how Disney inspired me. He made life come alive with his animated characters that made us laugh and look at the bright, happy side of life! He could make a simple scene of a fawn on the ice delightfully entertaining as Bambi slid around with his long, lanky unsteady legs! I love when Thumper, the rabbit said to Bambi, “I know what’s wrong with you; you’re twitterpated!!” meaning “you’re in love”!
There’s only a handful of people that I can reflect back over the years that had that Special Something – a real talent – a driving force behind them and they used it to the full. They would let nothing get in their way of their dreams. Yes, that’s the message and why all my favorite movies seem to carry that theme. That’s an ah-ha moment for me as I write this!! They all had these 2 things in common:
1. They had a Love of life – and the twinkle in their eyes showed it to the world!
2. Absolutely Nothing would get in their way of achieving what they wanted
This is the same spirit that entrepreneurs dearly hold on to. UNSTOPPABLE. Determined. Persistent.
Shirley Temple had that bright-eyed twinkle, that dimpled smile, that Special Sparkle that no child entertainer has ever had before her or since (in my opinion). No one can match her innate bubbly persona that just makes the room light up. Her natural talent for singing and dancing and her pure innocence combined with her brilliance and made her “everybody’s favorite little miss”!
They gave her roles that brought out her best talents and that although young and inexperienced, she could teach adults basics that they had forgotten over the years! We seem to let life kick us around and distort the wonderful lessons of love and forgiveness, of looking at things from a positive, wonderful view of life and all that is around us, being Thankful for everything God has given us! But it was her own natural sparkle that made you feel the joy she emitted and that made her special – as she touched our hearts.

Camelot was about King Arthur and the Round Table, yet it also showed a pursuing of a purpose with determination and a dream of a better life for all. Of course it fell apart with disunity because of the imperfection of man. Only God’s kingdom can solve mankind’s problems. I just LOVE this ending!! Richard Harris makes the hairs stand on end! What amazing Emotion!! “Don’t let it be forgot, that once there was a spot for one brief shining moment that was known as Camelot! RUN boy, RUUUNNNNN!!”
Pollyanna with Haley Mills was another of my favorites. She was a hilarious when she was really young. I love how she squiggled up her nose! LOL If you recall, the theme of that movie was this daughter of a preacher who went to live with her Aunt, who owned the town because of all her money. The whole town was unhappy. Pollyanna taught them to all “Look for the Good” with her “Happiness Game”. Whenever something went wrong, she would look for something to be happy about.
I always cry when she drops the doll that she won at the carnival and as she reaches for it, falls from the roof. Her legs end up paralyzed – and for the first time in her life, she cannot find anything to be happy about. So the whole town turns out to raise her hopes so that her operation has a better chance of success. They give back the love she showed them and it comes full circle back to her just when she needs it most. We all need love. The more we give, the more we get!
There are a number of lessons woven throughout this sweet movie. Once again it showed that money is not the problem – it is the character of the person that matters. Pollyanna’s rich aunt learned a valuable lesson about love and true friends being more important – and using money properly, to help others. That’s where the true happiness and success is. That point is also brought out in the book, Acres of Diamonds
Look for the GOOD in people.
Barbra Streisand, playing Fanny Brice in Funny Girl had it. That story reflects the power in her real life. Nothing would stop her or get in her way of being a “Ziegfeld Girl” and entertain the crowds with her unique style of comedy. . . and then follow the man she loves:
“Don’t tell me not to live – just sit and putter. Life’s candy and the sun’s a ball of butter! Don’t bring around a cloud to rain on my parade! Don’t tell me not to fly, I’ve simply got to! If someone takes a spill, it’s me and not you! Don’t bring around a cloud to rain on my parade! . . I’m gonna live and live Now! Get what I Want, I know How! . . . Get ready for me love, ‘cuz I’m a cumma! . . . Nobody’s gonna rain … on … my… paaarrraadde!!”
WoW! What an inspiration! Get out of her way – Nothing’s gonna stop her from getting Whatever she wants!!
Adam Lambert, 2009 American Idol runner-up! The New Elvis! WOW! I Love His Voice!! Here is a message for all Network Marketers. “There Are NO Boundaries” !!!
The Pursuit of HappYness with Will Smith is one of the most recent movies with that theme. He would let absolutely nothing stop him from keeping his son and providing for him. Here’s a clip from my favorite scene.
